Before he specialized on
assemblage sculpturing, Ribley had been engaged in
almost every other art form possible, as described in his artistic
furunculum. The artistic
legacy of Ribley comprises not only
sculptures and other plastics, but also essays and short stories, poems and
plays, fairy tales and comic strips, instrumental music and songs, films
and photographs, chess compositions and boebbelograms, and even educational
games and an encyclopedic work… His early works were created under the
pseudonym of Boebbel or
Rickard
Spermström .
The non - plastic works of
Ribley are usually characterized
by humour; Ribley tries to make people
laugh, but at the same time makes them think about human society and its
impact on our planet and its future.
His works constantly question human values and standards; their
character vary from amusing or entertaining to sarcastic or shocking.
However, some of his poems
and compositions are not characterized by humour, but are by nature purely
romantic or nostalgic, while some other works and creations are by nature
non – fictional, problematic or even educational…
So have a look at the non
- plastic pages, and discover the polyvalence of creative genius Ribley.
