ROCK GROUPIES

As said , Ribley! was a member of numerous bands, but mainly uncommercial rock and jazzrock groups. To name just a few : Kobold , The Plastic Bags , Le Lis , Bullshit Blues Band , Vetbult , Oezem , and Royal Erotic Space Orchestra .

But more importantly, Ribley! was a founding member of the progressive bands Zak & Boebbel and Psychotone .

However, being a front man of these bands, Ribley! had to deal with the insatiable sexual appetite of a large number of groupies. This may have led to many hours of pleasure, it may also have cost him several years of his life…

SHOWS & SONGS

Ribley! was also a successful solo performer under the name of Boebbel . He founded his own fan club sect and published his own magazine, called Boebbeltje . In the 1970's, Boebbel toured in Flanders and Holland with Dutch comedy shows.

Al Capote , The Chicken Screwer , Leave my Dick Alone… , Embryo Blues , The Unrelenting Masturbator , and the famous scetch Go Forth and Multiply ( aka The Priest ) .

Take Me by the Hand to Fairy Tale Wonderland / Neem me bij de Hand naar Sprookjeswonderland : a concept show with songs such as By the Hand to Fairy Tale Wonderland , Bluebeard , Redbeard , Greenbeard , and scetches such as The Assumed Gay Bodybuilder , The Kung Fu Conjurer , The Conductor , and The Ventriloquizing Angler .

The Frustrated Percussionist / De Gefrustreerde Slagwerker : a monologue for stand - up percussionist, including the Concerto for Percushion and Noseflute in B / Concerto voor Slachwerk in Si Groot .

MUSIC SPECTACLES

Ribley! has created 3 music spectacles for his jazzrock band Psychotone or for larger jazz orchestra :

Concerto for Noseflute and Runny Nose in E5 DoubleFlat, The @ventures of Ludwig van Baithoven, and Cosmos – perma – cussion, an ethno-jazzrock suite.

The first two spectacles included compositions such as Salmonella , Clapspice , Earth and Moon, Sweet Daisy, Lintje , Hungarian Sonata , Backward Tape ( aka Ejtnil ), Jessica and the Guitar Player , Arpegic Blues, and Genetic Blues ( aka Venereal Blues ).

COMPOSITIONS

Ribley! not only has written music and arrangements for his band Psychotone or his classical guitar trio THE FRIENDS OF D MAJOR, he has also composed and arranged works for classical or acoustic guitar and various music ensembles, e.g.

Naked Impromptu , La Danza del Uccello del Paradiso , Charlie Chaplin , Chromosomic Blues , Own Blues , Garlic , When I First Met Her , Antwerpian Flamenco , Ballerina , Brother Jacob , Wing and Wong from King Kang Dong , Herbert von Smurfejan , Sonjata for Guitar and Violin , Tjorven och Båtsman , and The Croaky Voiced Scarecrow and the Sunflower .

Already as a child Ribley! used to improvise repetitive and minimal music on a small metallophone he once got for his birthday. Later on, he learned to play various other instruments, such as acoustic and electric guitar, bouzouki, trumpet, noseflute, and of course drums and percussion… He even made his own percussion set, the klopmöbel , an extraordinary combination of a drumset and various idiophones, bells, and selfmade percussion instruments such as the boebbelophone .

Ribley! was a solo performer as well as a member of numerous music bands and ensembles, of which Zak & Boebbel and Psychotone were the most famous. Ribley! even played in a jazz big band and a ballroom orchestra to earn some extra money, for the life of an uncommercial artist in Belgium in the 1970's and 1980's was pretty hard, and often various jobs had to be combined to make ends meet…
