Ribley! has written music for various instruments, among which
the 'klopmöbel', a percussion
assemblage of which the last model consists of 41 percussion instruments,
and 5 aerophones that are played by
means of flexible tubes. Some of the
percussion instruments such as the electric
bike seat or the selfmade 'boebbelophone'
can be amplified separately and their sound is altered or distorted by
means of pedals. The klopmöbel is constructed in such a
way that the different instruments can be played simultaneously or in rapid
succession as if it were a single instrument.
As the klopmöbel was designed to be played by a single musician, Ribley! also invented an
appropriate notation that enables the percussionist to sight-read the music
that is written for this instrument.
The Base Study
for Klopmöbel is a warm-up excercise that Ribley! wrote for klopmöbel students.
